Membership FAQ

Answers before you apply

Who is eligible to join?

Membership is open to individuals who meet the common bond and qualifications set out in the KISE SACCO by-laws. If you are unsure whether you qualify, contact us before applying and we will guide you.

How long does approval take?

Most applications are reviewed within a few working days. We will contact you if anything is missing, and you will receive an SMS once your membership is approved.

What is the difference between shares and deposits?

Share capital is your ownership stake and earns dividends. Deposits are savings that earn interest and determine how much you can borrow. Both are important — shares make you an owner; deposits build your borrowing power.

When can I take my first loan?

Each loan product has a minimum membership period, shown on the products page, alongside your deposits and guarantor requirements. Emergency products usually have the shortest waiting period.

How do I make contributions?

Pay through M-Pesa from the member portal, use the SACCO paybill with your member number as the account, arrange a payroll check-off where available, or visit the office.

Can I have a joint or group account?

Membership is individual. Speak to our team about options for chamas, groups and junior savers.

What happens if I leave?

Give written notice as required by the by-laws. Once any loans and guarantees you are part of are settled, your deposits are refunded. Share capital is handled as the by-laws provide.

How is my personal information used?

Only to run your membership, meet legal and regulatory obligations and keep your account secure. Read our privacy notice for the details.
